Sister & Co. beauty: Rose infused macadamia body butter
- Date 12 Mar 2015
This body butter is incredibly luxurious and nourishing. Because of the rose oil, it smells delicious too.
Macadamia nuts contain a high concentration of palmitic acid, a natural component of human skin that helps to maintain good epidermal moisture levels. Your natural palmitic acid levels reduce with age, so using macadamia nuts topically is ideal for those looking for an anti-ageing solution.
The properties of macadamia nuts and coconut oil mean that the body butter is easily absorbed - but will leave your skin supple and moisturised for hours.
All you need:
2/3 cup macadamia nuts, soaked in cold water for at least 2 hours to soften
1/3 cup raw coconut oil
5 drops rose essential oil (readily available at health food shops)
Optional for extra nourishment: 2 vitamin E capsules, broken open (readily available at health food shops)
All you need to do: place the ingredients together in a food processor and blend for about a minute until you have a smooth paste and all the grains have been broken down - stop every so often to scrape down the sides. Transfer to a small container, and store in a cool, dark place. Keep in the fridge in warm weather so the product can keep its creamy texture.
